Sricity International University Launched in Andhra Pradesh; Introduces Work-Study Dual Model
Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, July 2:
Sricity International University (SIU) was officially inaugurated at its Interim Campus in Sri City, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday. The university was launched by Andhra Pradesh Minister for Human Resource Development, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, and RTG, Nara Lokesh, in the presence of members of SIU’s Global Advisory Council, Governing Board, and industry partners.
The university has introduced a Work-Study Dual Model, under which students will combine classroom learning with industry internships as part of their undergraduate education.
According to SIU, the model has been developed to address the gap between higher education and industry requirements. The university cited that India produces over nine million graduates every year, while only about 42.6% are considered employable. It also noted that many graduates are employed in roles below their qualifications, and more than 80% of employers report skill gaps.
Under the Work-Study Dual Model, students will spend around one-third of their time on campus and the remaining period working as interns with industry partners. Students will receive a minimum monthly stipend of ₹10,000 from the first year, with the possibility of higher stipends based on performance and productivity. The university stated that students completing a four-year degree are expected to graduate with more than two years of industry work experience.
SIU said its curriculum has been designed in collaboration with industry partners and will be reviewed annually to keep pace with changes in technology, including artificial intelligence, and evolving workforce requirements.
The university has also established an incubation centre, Station-S, to encourage entrepreneurship among students. According to SIU, around 10 startups have already commenced operations with support from Station-S and Gnan Circle Ventures, a Category-I Venture Capital Fund.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Nara Lokesh said Andhra Pradesh aims to strengthen employability by promoting education that is closely linked to workplace experience. He also highlighted Sri City’s industrial ecosystem, where more than 200 companies from over 30 countries operate across multiple sectors, providing opportunities for industry engagement.
Srini Raju, Chairman of the Sricity Education Foundation and SIU Governing Board, said the university’s academic model combines classroom education with paid internships while also focusing on life skills and entrepreneurship.
For the 2026–27 academic year, SIU is offering the following undergraduate programmes:
