SRM Easwari Launches ABB Robotics Global Excellence Center

Chennai: SRM Group of Institutions’s Easwari Engineering College has inaugurated India’s first Global Excellence Center for Robotics in collaboration with ABB Robotics.

The facility, set up on the college campus, is the third such centre globally by ABB and is aimed at advancing robotics and automation education in India.

The centre features AI-enabled robotic systems and automation labs, including applications such as 3D pin picking, palletising, welding, and virtual simulation. It also integrates emerging technologies like autonomous mobile robots, generative AI, IoT, and digital twin systems.

Officials said the centre will provide hands-on training for students across engineering disciplines, while also supporting research, industry collaboration, and startup development in robotics and automation.

The initiative is expected to strengthen academia-industry ties and drive innovation in areas such as smart manufacturing, predictive maintenance, and supply chain automation.

SRM officials noted that the partnership brings global-standard infrastructure to Indian campuses, enabling early-stage research and skill development among students in high-demand technology domains.
