SRM Alumni-Led Deep-Tech Firm Big Bang Boom Solutions Partners with SRMIST for Innovation and Research
Kattankulathur: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Big Bang Boom Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (BBBS), a Chennai-based deep-tech defence technology company founded by SRM alumnus Dr. R. Shivaraman, to collaborate on advanced research, innovation, and technology development.
The MoU was signed by Dr. S. Ponnusamy, Registrar of SRMIST, and Sivakumar Natarajan, Executive Vice President of BBBS, in the presence of faculty members and officials from both organisations.
The partnership aligns with the vision of Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor of SRMIST, to strengthen academia–industry collaboration and translate academic research into real-world technological solutions.
Under the agreement, SRMIST will serve as a knowledge partner to BBBS, supporting product development, research, and innovation initiatives. The collaboration will focus on emerging technology domains such as defence and security technologies, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, nuclear technologies, space technologies, and advanced analytics.
Faculty members and research scholars from SRMIST will contribute as subject matter experts to BBBS projects, while postgraduate students and research scholars will gain internship opportunities and hands-on exposure to deep-tech and defence innovation.
The collaboration was facilitated by Dr. Leenus Jesu Martin M., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at SRMIST, and supported by Dr. Rathinam A., Director of the Directorate of Alumni Affairs.
BBBS, founded by SRM alumni Dr. R. Shivaraman and Praveen Dwarakanath, focuses on developing advanced technologies including electronic warfare, autonomous systems, materials science, and defence technology solutions.
The partnership is also expected to support India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission by promoting indigenous deep-tech and defence technology development, while strengthening SRMIST’s alumni–industry–academia ecosystem.
