GEM Hospital launched Social Media Helpline for colorectal diseases

Chennai: GEM Hospital Chennai has launched a Social Media Helpline for colorectal diseases, allowing patients to post queries on their Facebook and Instagram pages, which will be answered by experts within 24 hours. This initiative marks Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, observed in March to emphasize the importance of screening and promoting healthy lifestyle habits to reduce the risk of colorectal cancer.

The hospital also conducted an awareness program on colorectal cancer, covering symptoms, disease behavior, and the importance of early screening. Additionally, GEM Hospital launched the Colorec+ initiative, offering affordable screening for colorectal-related ailments, such as piles, fissure, fistula, and colorectal cancer, until March 31, 2025.

During the event, around 100 Colorectal Cancer warriors were honored and shared their experiences, providing encouragement to those newly diagnosed with cancer. Dr. C. Palanivelu, Founder of GEM Hospitals, highlighted the hospital’s pioneering work in laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancers, with over 5,500 successful surgeries in the past 30 years.
