Milan 2026 Inaugurated at SRM Institute of Science and Technology

Kattankulathur: The 18th edition of Milan, the flagship national-level cultural festival of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), was inaugurated on Thursday at its Kattankulathur campus. Organised by the Directorate of Student Affairs, the student-run festival has drawn participation from over 60,000 students representing 350 colleges across 28 states and more than 60 countries.

Held under the theme “Live the Change: Indian Maximalism,” Milan 2026 celebrates creativity, diversity and youth culture as the institution marks its 40th year.

Actress Sreeleela, who attended the inaugural ceremony, praised the scale and inclusivity of the festival and commended students for organising one of the country’s largest cultural events.

Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor of SRM Group, said platforms such as Milan help students develop leadership, teamwork and organisational skills beyond classroom learning. Vice Chancellor Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan and other senior officials were present.

The opening night featured a live concert by composer Mithoon, who performed several of his popular film tracks before a large audience.

Composer Santhosh Narayanan is scheduled to perform on February 20, followed by performances by indie band Office Gaana and DJ Viola on February 21. The festival will conclude on February 22 with a valedictory ceremony featuring actress Anishma Anilkumar.

Milan 2026 continues to serve as a vibrant platform for artistic expression and student leadership.
