SRMIST Organizes Sand Art Campaign to Raise Awareness About Ocean Pollution
Chennai: The School of Architecture and Interior Design at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) is hosting a thought-provoking Sand Art Campaign at Elliot’s Beach in Chennai to highlight the critical issue of ocean pollution.
The event will feature striking sand sculptures created by students and faculty, narrating visual stories about the consequences of pollution and the urgent need for sustainable practices. Each sculpture will serve as a powerful reminder of the fragile balance between human activity and the health of our natural ecosystems.
The campaign aims to encourage community participation and dialogue around the environmental impact of human actions. By bringing the conversation into a public space like the beach, the event fosters participation at every level—from curious onlookers to committed environmentalists. The organizers hope to spark meaningful dialogue, nurture a sense of shared responsibility, and inspire collective action for a cleaner, healthier environment.
“This is more than just sand art—it’s a powerful cry from the shore. Through sand, sea, and storytelling, we’re sculpting a movement,” says the organizers from SRMIST’s School of Architecture and Interior Design.
