SRMIST, Indian Naval Academy Sign MoU for Research and Technology Collaboration
Kattankulathur: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, to strengthen collaboration in technical education, research and academic exchange.
The MoU was signed by Captain G. Sowjanya Sree, Registrar (AoD), Indian Naval Academy, and Dr. S. Ponnusamy, Registrar, SRMIST, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two institutions.
Under the agreement, both institutions will collaborate on faculty and student exchange programmes, joint seminars, workshops, conferences and research initiatives. The partnership will focus on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, automation and green energy.

The MoU will also enable Indian Navy personnel to pursue higher education at SRMIST, with up to eight M.Tech seats and six PhD seats allocated annually. Faculty members from the Indian Naval Academy may also serve as co-guides for doctoral scholars.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor of SRMIST, said the collaboration would strengthen the link between academic research and national service while providing students and cadets exposure to emerging technologies.
Rear Admiral G. Rambabu, Principal of the Indian Naval Academy, said the partnership would enhance academic engagement and technological learning for future naval officers.
