AINU hosts 3rd Edition of Kidney Run Marathon

Chennai: The Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU) Chennai organized its 3rd edition of the AINU Kidney Run, a 5-kilometer run held at Olcott Memorial Higher Secondary School, to raise awareness about kidney health and promote preventive measures. Over 600 participants from diverse age groups took part in the event, which aimed to highlight the importance of kidney health in maintaining overall well-being.

The event was flagged off by Ravi IPS, Former DGP-TN Police; K.S Ravikumar, Indian Film Director; and Dr. Arun Kumar Balakrishnan, Managing Director, Chief Consultant Urologist, Robotic Surgeon, and Uro-Oncologist. The run promoted active lifestyles, hydration, and thoughtful food choices, while emphasizing the vital role kidney health plays in preserving general well-being.

Ravi praised the event for spreading crucial awareness about kidney health, saying, “This kind of event served as a powerful message of hope and resilience for those battling kidney disease.” Dr. Arun Kumar Balakrishnan emphasized the importance of kidney health in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, encouraging individuals to stay active, hydrated, and mindful of their dietary choices.

The event provided a strong forum for discussing issues related to renal care, such as access to specialists and awareness gaps. The hospital hopes to greatly improve kidney health knowledge and care by including kidney health into more general health policies and encouraging patient-centered approaches. K.S Ravikumar highlighted the need for a balanced, healthy lifestyle across all age groups, encouraging participants to inspire each other to live healthier lives and support those fighting kidney disease.
